You really can't go wrong with Pete the Cat because I haven't met a young child who doesn't like him (and I teach Kindergarten so I meet a fair number of small children!) I bought these books for my niece with the Pete the Cat doll. She's almost 3-years-old and she listens to the CDs over and over with her Pete doll while trying to turn the pages at the right time. These CDs don't have that little tone I remember from audio books when I was a child but she's figuring out how to stay on the correct page from the pictures since she's so familiar with the text at this point. I think it's great that she's spending time with books and I would definitely recommend this for both boys and girls.The only problem is that I bet the profit on this product is ridiculous. On the back of the books, it clearly says, "This edition is available for distribution only through the school market," and it's published by Scholastic. As a teacher, I've used Scholastic many times and I know that sets such as this usually go for around $15 - $18 but is wasn't available on the Scholastic website when I went to order this specific title so I had to go through Amazon instead. Anyway, $38 for three paperback books with four minutes audio CDs seems pretty expensive but if you're willing to pay that much for something that motivates a child to enjoy books, it's worth the cost.
4 year old preK student and 5 year old Kindergarten student LOVE them! Three great books but the cds are what makes the set wonderful! The man who reads them and sings the songs is fabulous. Will have the whole family singing along in no time, I know mine is.
The book and story are fine. But the audio disks seem like poor copies. Some audio cuts off before the last words are spoken, and the title track info is jibberish. Seller did not respond to my query.
Pete the Cat books are awesome for children...and I love them too! Whether teaching colors, or numbers, or whatever, these books add fun to the learning! I had originally seen these books when they were being used along with the short, repetitive ditties that can be also found on-line to enhance the enjoyment. I recommend these books for any child. Even my 2nd grade granddaughter loves them. We walk through the bookstore "singing this song".
We love Pete the cat! He has catchy tunes! He's so cute! And he teaches the kids fun things!
My grand kids (ages 2, 4, and 5) LOVE these books. I am so glad that I purchased them as a birthday gift for the 4 year old. The pictures appeal to the ones that like to draw/paint, and the repitition in the story make it enjoyable for all ages.
It seemed a bit overpriced but all three were instant class favorites!
